Dear MAMS Families,

Well, this was a whirlwind week! Thanks to everyone who reached out to me. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness, kindness, and support as I navigate this new position. I plan to send out a regular parent newsletter with information and upcoming events--however, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here are a few things coming up in our school:

Important Dates:
Tuesday, November 3: Election Day/Teacher In-Service--No SchooL
Friday, November 6: First Quarter Ends
Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day--No School

Lockdown Drills will be held on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:45am (Cohort A) and Thursday, October 22 at 8:45am (Cohort B) with cooperation from local police/fire departments.  Team teachers will notify and prepare our students in advance of this drill.  State law requires that we hold a number of fire/evacuation drills and one lockdown drill per year and we want parents to be aware of these upcoming drills.

Free Flu Shot Clinics. Our public health partners at CHANS & Mid Coast Medical Group will be holding drive-thru flu shot clinics EVERY Saturday and Sunday, through November 8th!

MSAD No. 75 is supporting these clinics in lieu of the clinic we usually run for students and families after school.  Please see THIS attached schedule for a list of upcoming dates.

Flu shots are FREE and more important than ever - please take the time to get one!

Updated Covid-19 Pre-Screening Tool.  Thank you so much for all of your support in using the daily screener and helping our students to follow the safety protocols. It’s a lot to manage, but students are doing a fabulous job with all of the changes. Please continue using this updated  SCREENING TOOL each day before your child comes to school and reach out to our school nurse with any questions.

Food Service Update. Beginning Wednesday, October 7, 2020, we are changing our lunch pick-up schedule to accommodate upcoming changes in the academic calendar. In order to maintain consistency with the program for both four-day and five-day weeks, we will be moving to multiple pick-up sites and limited deliveries. We will begin to offer a weekly pick-up at each school location in lieu of district wide delivery, very similar to our spring food distribution program. Please see the schedule listed below:

Bowdoinham Community School – 12-1:00 p.m. pick-up by the Ridge Road parking lot (near baseball fields)

Bowdoin Central School – 12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the upper parking lot loop (Please follow the cones.)

Harpswell Community School 12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the normal bus loop (Please follow the cones.)

Williams-Cone School – 12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the normal bus loop (Please follow the cones.)

Woodside Elementary School –12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the first parking lot, lower level (Please follow the signage.)

Mt. Ararat High School -12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the parent drop-off area (Please follow the signs.)

Mt. Ararat Middle School – 12-1:00 p.m. pick-up in the normal bus loop

EVENING PICK- UP AT Mt. Ararat Middle School – 5-7:00 p.m. pick-up in the normal bus loop.

Upon arrival at the school, you will be asked for the number of meals and to pop your trunk. We will place items in the vehicle for you to expedite the traffic flow. (Please stay in your vehicle.)

All of the menus are posted on the M.S.A.D. No. 75 webpage under the parent tab. Thank you for your continued support of our program, and please remember that all meals are FREE for children age 18 and under until December 31, 2020.

If you have special dietary requests, please email with your needs and the location of pick-up. If you cannot make any of these pick-up times, please reach out as well. We will try to accommodate every request.

Additionally, don’t forget to fill out the FREE/REDUCED LUNCH FORM--Forms can be filled out any time throughout the school year to receive a free or reduced lunch benefit after the current free meal program expires.

Student At Risk of Self-Harm Outside of School Hours?  If you and/or your child become aware of a student that may be at risk of self-harm when school is not in session, please DO NOT attempt to contact school personnel during this time.  Staff are not working at their desks and may not be checking email or voicemail during these times.  Therefore, vital safety information could easily be missed and students could be placed at greater risk. Instead, please utilize THIS step-by-step guide for how a parent could respond to such a concern outside of school hours.  This guide is placed prominently on our MAMS webpage, and was created in collaboration with local police, mental health providers, and the local Crisis Response Center.

Best wishes for a wonderful fall weekend.

With Gratitude,

Megan Hayes Teague

Interim Principal
